SEBI’s accolade underscores its commitment to market integrity and regulatory excellence, setting a benchmark in the Asia Pacific region.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has been recognised for Best Conduct of Business Regulator in Asia Pacific by The Asian Banker, highlighting its proactive measures in facilitating transparency and fairness in India’s financial markets.

Kamlesh Chandra Varshney, full-time member of SEBI, said: “I’m really grateful to The Asian Banker for honouring the Securities and Exchange Board of India with this award,” attributing the achievement to the collective efforts of SEBI’s team and collaborative partnerships with market infrastructure institutions.

He emphasised SEBI’s commitment, saying: “SEBI protects investor interests and develops the market. This award will motivate all of us to excel in the future.”

SEBI’s initiatives, such as implementing T+1 settlement in January 2023, have streamlined post-trade processes and enhanced liquidity. Additionally, stringent regulations on index providers and support for fundraising via the social stock exchange showcase SEBI’s commitment to transparency and governance.
