The Asian Banker 500 Strongest Bank Balance Sheets ranking is designed to meet a clear need in the marketplace for a more comprehensive assessment of financial institutions that are useful to counter-parties, suppliers, investors and partner organisations.

This ranking defines the relative strength of the banks in the database of the 500 largest banks in Asia Pacific region by assets. Asian Banker Research has developed over several years a Strength Scorecard that ranks banks in six areas: scale, balance sheet growth, risk profile, profitability asset, quality and liquidity.

This year’s Top 10 are represented by players from Greater China and Southeast Asia, including Hong Kong (3), China (3), Macau (1), Singapore (2) and Malaysia (1).

This year we have introduced a forward-looking element called the “Bank Watch List” into the evaluation with the aim of providing a holistic 360 degree view of the ranking.
