BIDV receives double recognition at the TAB Global Excellence in Retail Finance Awards 2026

BIDV receives dual recognition at the TAB Global Excellence in Retail Finance Awards 2026, reaffirming its position as the leading retail bank in Vietnam and highlighting its innovative approach to digital banking with a standout deposit product in the Asia Pacific region.

On March 12, 2026, during the TAB Global Excellence in Retail Finance Awards in Shanghai, China, the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) was awarded two significant accolades by The Asian Banker: Best Retail Bank in Vietnam and Best Deposit Product in Asia Pacific.

This marks the 11th time BIDV has been named the Best Retail Bank in Vietnam, underscoring its established position in the retail banking sector and its ongoing efforts to innovate within its products and services.

A robust foundation supporting continued growth

Amid rapid shifts in the financial and banking markets, driven by emerging technologies, increasingly diverse customer demands, and higher service standards, BIDV has maintained a commitment to a customer-centric retail banking strategy. The bank has focused on accelerating digital transformation and adapting its business model accordingly.

In 2025, BIDV saw significant retail banking results, with retail credit and individual customer deposits surpassing VND 1.1 quadrillion ($46.2 million). This made BIDV the first bank in Vietnam to reach this scale in both categories.

The bank’s retail customer base also continued to expand in both size and quality, exceeding 26 million customers. As part of its strategy, BIDV has focused on developing tailored financial solutions that align with the needs and behaviors of different customer segments, ranging from young consumers and small business owners to retirees and affluent individuals.

Award for Retail Banking Excellence

For small businesses and household enterprises, BIDV introduced MyShop Pro, a comprehensive sales management solution integrated into the BIDV SmartBanking app. This innovation enables users to manage revenue and cash flow, access digital banking services and stay updated with new tax regulations.

For younger and mass-market customers, BIDV has launched various preferential credit programs in areas such as commercial & production, green finance and consumer lending. Among these is a VND 40 trillion ($1.68 billion) home loan package aimed at customers under 35, offering competitive interest rates and supporting homeownership in line with government policies.

BIDV has also strengthened services for affluent clients by partnering with regional and international institutions to deliver exclusive offerings such as Women & Wealth, Next Gen and Top VIP, providing high-end financial and lifestyle experiences.

Advancements in digital financial services

In addition to product development, BIDV has placed a strong emphasis on enhancing its technology platforms and digital infrastructure to improve customer experience. Throughout 2025, the bank made notable progress by continuously launching and upgrading technology platforms, expanding features and delivering more personalised customer journeys.

A key development was the BIDV SmartBanking X digital banking application, which saw three major upgrades: a redesigned user interface with two interface themes: Emerald and Pearl; integration of AI and machine learning for deep personalisation based on customer behavior; and the expansion of the digital ecosystem to include features such as automated investment, salary advance loans, online card issuance and personal financial management.

BIDV has also sought to become a trusted partner in major life decisions, such as buying a home or car. As part of this strategy, the bank introduced an upgraded version of BIDV Home, a digital ecosystem designed for real estate and auto finance. This platform connects customers, developers, banks, and service providers in a single ecosystem. It simplifies the entire journey from product search and booking to loan application and progress tracking, making the customer experience more seamless and expanding market access for ecosystem partners.

Regional recognition for deposit product

At the same awards ceremony, BIDV’s online deposit product was honoured with the Best Deposit Product in Asia Pacific award by The Asian Banker. This recognition reflects the bank’s efforts to promote digital savings habits through its online term deposit product on BIDV SmartBanking, offering a fast, flexible and intelligent user experience.

Customers have access to multiple deposit options, including fixed deposits or flexible principal withdrawals, and can choose to receive interest monthly or at maturity. The product also offers flexible solutions such as online secured loans or deposit transfers, catering to customers’ liquidity needs while preserving returns.

BIDV has further expanded its deposit ecosystem with features such as goal-based savings for purposes like home purchases studying abroad, as well as automated investment tools for idle funds in payment accounts.

As a result of these innovations, BIDV’s digital deposit volume has grown by over 50% annually from 2021 to 2025, supporting the broader adoption of savings habits and the expansion of access to digital financial services across a range of diverse customer segments.
