Jakarta, Indonesia, 22 May 2025 – Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and Thai Group Holdings (TGH) were recognised at the TAB Global Business Achievement Awards, held at the Ritz Carlton Jakarta. The TAB Global Business Achievement Awards programme includes the Financial Technology Innovation Awards, Transaction Finance Awards, Financial Markets Awards and Risk Management Awards, recognising excellence across key areas of the financial services industry. TAB Global Risk Management Awards recognise both traditional banks and non-bank financial institutions for their outstanding achievements in risk management. Institutions from Asia Pacific, Middle East, Central Asia and Africa participate in both international and country levels, assessed through a comprehensive evaluation process. As the financial industry evolves, risk management has become vital in ensuring the stability and success of financial institutions. These awards highlight remarkable developments in financial risk management across seven key areas: climate, enterprise, credit, market, liquidity, operational and cybersecurity. The winners were awarded for their exceptional Achievement in Risk Management in 2024. Achievement in Credit Risk Management in The Philippines BPI has strengthened its credit risk management framework by deploying 179 risk models—mostly credit-focused—enhancing real-time oversight through a dedicated CRO dashboard, and fully integrating Robinsons Bank’s commercial and corporate accounts. These initiatives drove a 57% growth in the bank’s loan portfolio, reduced its non-performing loan ratio to 2.13% — well below the industry average of 3.3% — and maintained NPL reserve coverage above 100%. Achievement in Enterprise Risk Management in Thailand for Non-bank Financial Institution TGH has strengthened its enterprise risk management by embedding a three-lines-of-defence model across multiple subsidiaries, integrating data-driven tools, and aligning strategic decision-making with risk appetite and regulatory foresight. These efforts improved resilience, ensured that over 90% of key risks remained within thresholds, and prevented repeat losses from past shocks while adapting products and capital strategies to emerging risks.
