Taipei, 27 August 2026 - The Asian Banker Taiwan Awards 2026 recognised banks strengthening established banking franchises while developing new capabilities in sustainable finance, AI and digital services. This year’s winners demonstrate how scale, advisory expertise and integrated technology support customer service and operating efficiency across retail and corporate banking.

CTBC combines retail and wealth management leadership with transaction banking capabilities

CTBC Bank was named Best Retail Bank in Taiwan for its performance across key retail banking metrics in 2025, supported by scale, digital maturity and robust risk management. Its leading affluent banking franchise and use of AI in fraud prevention and advisory services contribute to a comprehensive retail banking model.

The bank also received Best Wealth Management Bank in Taiwan (Affluent Category), recognising its leadership in serving affluent clients. CTBC has built a profitable franchise, with its extensive advisory resources and digital tools supporting market-leading revenue growth. Its combination of scale, professional expertise and an established digital advisory model underpinned what judges described as the market’s most comprehensive wealth management offering.

CTBC’s institutional strength extended into transaction banking, where it received Best Transaction Bank, Best Cash Management Bank and Best Trade and Supply Chain Finance Bank in Taiwan. Its global platform, API capabilities and real-time payment services combine integrated cash management, trade finance and cross-border connectivity to help corporate clients improve efficiency and support growth.
Its Smart Application Platform combines ISO 20022 integration with real-time payment capabilities to streamline the digital customer experience. Solutions including UPAS L/C and comprehensive working capital services further support its position in Taiwan’s trade and supply chain finance market.

In financial markets, CTBC received Best Custodian Bank in Taiwan. It holds the largest market share among domestic custodians through an integrated platform spanning custody, trust and stock affairs services. It became the first local bank to launch a regulated virtual asset custody pilot and the only local bank operating a global custody system, supported by extensive automation and AI-driven fraud prevention.
CTBC also received Green and Sustainable Bank of the Year in Taiwan for a sustainable-finance ecosystem combining technology, rigorous methodology and measurable environmental impact. The bank uses large language models to extract and standardise corporate decarbonisation targets from unstructured disclosures, converting them into PCAF-aligned temperature scores for portfolio analysis. Its green loans, sustainability-linked loans and transition-finance products have maintained year-on-year growth across successive reporting periods.

E.SUN extends SME banking strengths into retail and sustainability innovation

E.SUN Bank was named Best SME Bank in Taiwan. Judges highlighted its leading digital activity rate and fully digital onboarding as evidence that digital investment supports risk management and service delivery, including faster processing times and lower non-performing loan ratios. Its scalable, digitally advanced platform was recognised as a benchmark for SME banking digitisation in the market.

Beyond SME banking, E.SUN received awards across retail, wealth management and sustainability. Its E.SUN Wallet JPY Pay Direct, which embeds foreign currency accounts into everyday spending, won Best Digital Payments Initiative in Taiwan. A suite comprising a charity credit card, micro-property insurance and an elderly care trust received Best Financial Inclusion Initiative in Taiwan.

The bank’s use of generative AI across mortgage advisory, branch operations and voice analytics earned Best Generative AI Application in Retail Banking in Taiwan.

E.SUN also received four Asia Pacific awards. Its GePay platform won Best Credit Card for SMEs in Asia Pacific, while its Carbon Accounting Account received Best ESG-Linked Retail Finance Initiative in Asia Pacific. Its Dual Axis Wealth Management Model was recognised as Best Financial Advisory Service in Asia Pacific, and its Farm to Table programme received Best Sustainable Banking Initiative in Asia Pacific.
