This year’s awards recognised Philippine banks that are strengthening retail, SME and transaction banking through digital capabilities, integrated platforms and scalable operating models.

  • Retail banking combines digital capabilities with disciplined growth and risk management
  • SME banking scales through analytics-led lending, nationwide distribution and stronger credit discipline
  • Transaction and wholesale banking deepen through real-time payments, API connectivity and integrated corporate platforms
  • Cash management, supply chain finance and payments become more closely embedded into client workflows and business ecosystems

Manila, 13 August 2026 – Philippine banks are deepening digital integration across retail, SME and transaction banking, with technology increasingly embedded in customer journeys, payment infrastructure and day-to-day business processes. The Asian Banker Philippine Awards 2026 recognised institutions that are turning these capabilities into more integrated services, scalable operating models and stronger customer propositions.

The winners span retail, SME, transaction, corporate and wholesale banking, as well as cash management, supply chain finance and payments, reflecting the breadth of innovation reshaping the country’s banking sector.

Retail banking balances digital convenience with growth and risk discipline

Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) was named Best Retail Bank in the Philippines for building a strong retail franchise supported by consistent growth, a stable funding base and disciplined risk management.

Its approach has enabled the bank to deepen consumer relationships, strengthen loyalty and maintain a resilient loan portfolio. BPI combines digital capabilities and product innovation with prudent balance sheet management to meet evolving customer needs and support long-term financial wellbeing.

The award reflects the growing importance of balancing digital convenience with financial resilience and sound risk management as competition in retail banking intensifies.

SME banking scales through analytics-led lending and nationwide reach

BPI was also recognised as Best SME Bank in the Philippines for developing a deeply embedded SME banking franchise. Its model combines dedicated organisational focus, nationwide distribution and a portfolio-based approach to serving businesses. Standardised products, analytics-led prequalification and centralised underwriting enable the bank to scale SME lending while maintaining strong credit discipline and sustainable asset quality.

The model shows how technology, analytics and centralised credit processes can help SME banking scale as a strategic growth engine while maintaining underwriting discipline.

Integrated corporate platforms strengthen transaction and wholesale banking

BDO Unibank was awarded Best Transaction Bank in the Philippines for its extensive domestic reach, clearing infrastructure and capabilities in high-volume payments and cash management. Its real-time payments capabilities and integrated banking platforms help businesses manage financial flows more efficiently, while scalable transaction solutions connect corporate customers to wider business ecosystems.

BDO was also named Best Corporate, Investment and Wholesale Bank in the Philippines. Its corporate banking offering has been strengthened through transaction banking modernisation, including SWIFT FileAct host-to-host integration and enhanced API connectivity across cash management services.

Its Business Online Banking platform enables greater straight-through processing across payments, collections and liquidity management. Combined with its extensive branch network, it enables BDO to operate on a hybrid model that combines digital transaction execution with relationship-based corporate banking.

Cash management, supply chain finance and payments become more embedded in business workflows

Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) was recognised as Best Cash Management Bank in the Philippines for its digital cash management capabilities and integrated treasury solutions. Platforms including Cash Cube and Check Scan streamline deposit processing, reconciliation and liquidity management, while API connectivity with client treasury systems enhances integration and operational efficiency. The bank also provides digital payroll solutions and other services that help deepen corporate relationships.

RCBC was also awarded Best Supply Chain Finance Bank in the Philippines. Its supply chain finance offering combines non-recourse financing, supported by the credit strength of anchor buyers, with its Cash Cube and eSOA platforms. Together, these solutions help businesses manage liquidity, improve collection efficiency and gain greater visibility into cash flows.

By integrating API capabilities with customer systems, RCBC enables smoother payment processing and stronger supply chain connectivity, particularly for SMEs.

Chinabank was named Best Payments Bank in the Philippines for solutions that simplify payment processing, reconciliation and operational workflows. Its Easy Tax and Smart Cash Safe solutions integrate digital capabilities into everyday business processes, helping customers reduce manual intervention and manage transactions more efficiently. This reflects the growing role of payments embedded directly into business workflows and wider financial ecosystems.
