Techcombank has raised two new buildings in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) that will serve as its new headquarters in Vietnam. Located in the heart of the cities’ business districts, the world-class, energy-efficient buildings are wholly owned and developed by Techcombank. The unveiling on 28 September 2024 was timed to commemorate Techcombank’s 30th anniversary this year. The buildings were designed by world-renowned British architecture firm Foster+Partners, purveyors of the Gherkin in London, and other distinctive works around the world. The Techcombank headquarters are the first buildings to be designed by the company in Vietnam. Ho Anh Ngoc, vice chairman of Techcombank, said:“These fantastic new buildings embody Techcombank’s vision to Change Banking, Change Lives. They bring together outstanding design with modern technology to create two new iconic financial buildings for Hanoi and HCMC and push the boundaries in sustainability. The Techcombank Tower in Hanoi is a wonderful synergy of tradition and modernity, while our building in HCMC is an embodiment of modern, sophisticated architecture.” The Techcombank Tower Headquarters in Hanoi is located in the city’s epicentre. The building melds traditional Vietnamese materials with modern architectural design, epitomised by its main façade of interlaced wooden panels set against a gold backdrop. The Techcombank Head Office in HCMC occupies prime real estate in District 1. The building resembles two stacked Rubik’s cubes with glass windows across 20 storeys and a large sunlit internal atrium that by night transforms Techcombank Le Duan into a sparkling crystal. Jens Lottner, CEO of Techcombank, said:“Our headquarters are now in two world-class financial buildings in prime locations in Hanoi and HCMC that all our employees can be proud of. The designs by Foster+Partners have created open and collaborative working environments that will encourage innovation and the sharing of ideas. Each building will help to empower our people so that they can better serve our customers, while also contributing to the sustainable development of Hanoi and HCMC.” In 2022 and 2023, Techcombank became the first Vietnamese bank to run overseas talent roadshows in Singapore, US, UK and Australia to recruit Vietnamese-born talents to return to the country and join the bank. In September 2023, Techcombank became the first and only Vietnamese bank to be named in the top 11 best workplaces in Asia by Great Place to Work, a leading global organisation that assesses workplace culture. Lottner said: “With modern amenities, sustainable design, and workspaces that foster creativity and collaboration, we now have head offices that truly reflect the bank’s dedication to excellence.” The opening ceremonies were celebrated with immersive digital art exhibitions showcasing Vietnam’s cultural heritage. In Hanoi, a collection of digital artworks represented the ethos of heritage and the future embodied in the building’s design, while in HCMC, the exhibition connected architecture, nature and people to express the city’s dynamic character. The two exhibitions are the largest digital art installations to be shown in Vietnam and are a collaboration between Viet Tu, stage director and event organiser, and leading visual artist Tung Monkey.
